THE NATURE OF
INVESTIGATIONS
As an aid to help our
clients better understand the nature of the Private
Detective industry, the processes by which we work,
and the regulations by which we are governed, we
have prepared this information sheet so you may have
more realistic expectations regarding the work the
referred investigators and Private Eye Verify will
conduct on your behalf, as well as an explanation of
our rates.
1.
We have no more authority than does a
private citizen. We are not police officers.
The training, testing background checks, and
certification process we go through in order to
obtain our licenses is meant to set us apart as
individuals who are committed to unbiased
professionalism. As such, we are bound to
rigid codes of conduct dictated by the State of
Florida.
2.
Similarly, we are not attorneys.
Though we are very knowledgeable of the laws
governing our actions, any advice we give concerning
the direction or outcome of your case is merely a
suggestion that should be approved by any legal
representative you may have.
3.
We are not magicians. Ours is an
industry revolving around details through available
information, the understanding of this detail, and
the working knowledge of how to follow the trails we
uncover. This detailed information is
generated through diligence and knowing where to
look. Just as librarians are not geniuses,
they simply are trained on where and how to find
information.
4.
Sometimes the information generated is
contrary to what the client hopes to find. We
cannot guarantee results. We can only
guarantee that the necessary information,
documentation, etc will be searched for diligently,
legally, expediently, and as economically as
possible.
5.
If surveillance is necessary we feel
obligated to inform you of the “real life
caveats.” Surveillance, especially moving
surveillance, is a hit and miss science. We
can perform these observations under agreed upon
time and location parameters but cannot promise
activity on behalf of the subject. Similarly,
moving surveillance carries with it inherent
obstacles such as the unpredictable nature of
traffic. There is no guarantee that contact
with the subject can be maintained as we cannot
predict traffic flow, traffic conditions, weather,
or other unforeseen problems. As in number one
above, we have no more authority than a private
citizen. This includes traffic laws.
Similarly, privacy and private property laws will
dictate the conduct of surveillance’s.
6.
Private Eye Verify and referred
investigators can, however, make a promise that most
of the other agencies can’t. That is, we
will do everything in our power to reach the goal of
obtaining the information you need in a timely
fashion and conduct ourselves in a professional and
discreet manner while representing you in your case.

CONCERNING OUR CHARGES:
In order to clarify our charges
and make sure there are no misunderstandings, this guideline
has been produced in order to assist you. Our fees are based
on $85.00 an hour per investigator and .75 cents a mile. You
will be charged from the time our agent walks out the door of
headquarters on your assignment until the time he/she returns
to headquarters from your assignment. You will be charged this
rate for travel time and for mileage both to and from the
primary surveillance point. In additional to being charged
from headquarters to headquarters on your case, you will also
be charged $ 8.00 for any video taken. This is, of course, for
any cases that would require video. Additionally, you will
also incur an 8% Administration Fee. This fee is added to the
total of each case to cover such things as postage, assembling
reports, typing reports, CD’s, and other Secretarial
services require to process your case. This is an “across
the board” charge that applies to every case, in
order to defray the cost.
If still photos are taken during
your case, you will be charged $2.00 per photograph. You
should note that anytime surveillance is scheduled that the
investigator must get to the surveillance point in advance
of when the subject is scheduled to leave or depart. An
example would be: If we are scheduled to follow a subject from
his home, we need to be there prior to them leaving in
order to determine the best place to set up the surveillance
vehicles according to the conditions of that particular day
and time. You will also be charged for any type of
intelligence reports that are required to be run in this case,
in order to make your investigation successful. An example of
this: If you only supply a subject’s name and you do not
have their tag # and our agency has to develop the make,
model, type of vehicle or address for the subject, all of this
is intelligence data work and will be charged accordingly to
your case. A written report is made for each and every time we
go on your assignment. This report is done at the end of the
assignment and is billed to you, the client, for the time that
it takes to actually dictate the events that happened during
the surveillance. If you call the agent or agency you should
be aware that this is chargeable time and charged at $120.00
an hour while you are discussing your case. If this call is
placed to our cell phones the charges will be at .75 cents a
minute (additional). We will work from your retainer, and when
that is exhausted, all work will cease until that is
replenished. The state of Florida requires .07% sales tax on
all investigation work. All fees are required in advanced.
IN CONCLUSION:
The hiring of an Investigator can
make the difference in winning and losing your case or
uncovering the truth and obtaining peace of mind. However, you
should be aware that there is no outcome warrantee.
This means that an Investigator can never guarantee you that
he/she will solve your case. The hiring of an Investigator is
similar to a “roll of the dice” many times. There is a better
than average chance that your case will be solved.
However, there is also a large percentage of risk that the
investigation will show nothing that is instrumental to your
case. It is always disappointing to spend money on an
investigation and for the outcome to be nonproductive.
Very few Investigation Agencies
will share the above information with you in the amount of
detail that has been supplied herein. After 15 years
experience in this industry, we believe that it is important
that clients be fully informed as to what they can
actually expect from an Investigator and what is an
impossibility.
